
Col. Maureen Emily May, USAF Ret., a resident of Clermont, Fl passed away on December 24, 2009, ending her battle with lung cancer.
Maureen was born in Queens, NY, on January, 27th 1942, the daughter of the late John D. Higgins and the late Emily Flescher Higgins. She graduated from Bishop McDonnell HS in Brooklyn, NY and went on to pursue a nursing career from St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. Maureen served proudly in both the US Air Force and the Iowa Air National Guard 132nd TFW, and obtained a B.S. degree from St. Francis College.
She is survived by her daughters Kara May of Des Moines, IA, Dee May and her husband Matt Hutchison of Johnston, IA and son Bill May and wife Jennifer of Houston, TX, her brother John D. Higgins of Reston, VA, her sister Kathleen Parsell of Clermont, and her grandchildren, Haylee, Johnathan, Jack, Isabelle, William, Anna and was anxiously awaiting the birth of her 7th grandchild due in March of 2010.
Arrangements were made by Cremation Choices of Clermont, Fl. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the American Lung Association.
Maureen will be dearly missed.

I had the please of serving with Maureen in the 132d Tactical Hospital, Iowa Air National Guard early in my Air Force career and I remember that she was fun-loving, hard working, patriotic officer. Prayers be with you.
